Key Responsibilities- Collect and Process Specimens
Collect blood samples and other bodily fluids from patients, and process them for laboratory testing.
Perform Laboratory TestsPerform CLIA waived glucose tests, urinalysis, urine pregnancy tests, and fecal occult, as well as other laboratory tests as required.
Maintain Laboratory RecordsAccurately maintain daily log records of laboratory status and results, and ensure that all laboratory requisition forms and specimen tubes are properly completed.
Provide Patient CareProvide care to patients visiting the clinic, including taking vital signs, recording information in patient charts, and assisting providers with patient examinations and procedures.
Communicate with Providers and StaffCommunicate effectively with providers and staff to ensure that laboratory results are reported in a timely manner, and that any issues or concerns are addressed promptly.
Requirements- Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as well as medical assistant/phlebotomy or laboratory assistant certification. A minimum of 12 months experience in a family practice or community health setting is preferred.
Skills and AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, be able to multitask and prioritize effectively, and have strong communication and customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and practice management system software is also required.
Physical RequirementsThe ability to sit, stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time, as well as exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, is required. The ability to work in a stressful environment and respond to emergency situations is also necessary.
