Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Technician I - Construction Materials Specialist to join our team at Intertek. As a key member of our Building and Construction team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a range of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing, including soil, concrete, and other materials, and provide assessment of data through reporting.
- Work utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks, maintaining detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
Requirements:
- H.S. Diploma or GED, preferred.
- Experience performing construction materials testing/inspections is preferred, but not required.
- Certifications in areas such as MDOT Density Certification, ACI Concrete I Certification, and MCA Concrete Certification are highly preferred.
- Basic Math, Calculator, and Computer Skills are essential.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication.
- Must be able to read and understand work plans.
- Must be able to work off-shifts and overtime.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record are required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
- Ability to climb occasionally.
