The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Orthopedic Surgical Hospital team as an Access Coordinator III. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless experience for our patients and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors at the front desk.
- Manage incoming calls and coordinate appointments, referrals, and consultations.
- Handle patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently.
- Process payments and issue receipts as required.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Conduct insurance verifications and explain benefits to patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely patient care.
- Participate in training and orientation for new staff members.
- Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of experience in customer service, registration, billing, or scheduling, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with office equipment such as printers and scanners.
- Strong customer service skills and knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Intermediate computer skills, particularly with MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with registration, billing, or scheduling in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with the EPIC system.
