Position Overview:

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Orthopedic Surgical Hospital team as an Access Coordinator III. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless experience for our patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist patients and visitors at the front desk.
  • Manage incoming calls and coordinate appointments, referrals, and consultations.
  • Handle patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently.
  • Process payments and issue receipts as required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Conduct insurance verifications and explain benefits to patients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely patient care.
  • Participate in training and orientation for new staff members.
  • Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate effective communication skills.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in customer service, registration, billing, or scheduling, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as printers and scanners.
  • Strong customer service skills and knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly with MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with registration, billing, or scheduling in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with the EPIC system.
