Objective

The Child First Clinician collaborates with a Family Support Partner to engage families referred for home-based interventions. The primary aim is to enhance the caregiver-child relationship, providing a protective buffer against stress while promoting the child's emotional, cognitive, and language development. Utilizing trauma-informed, relationship-based treatment models, the Clinician focuses on fostering supportive interactions between caregivers and children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with families and Family Support Partners during the comprehensive family assessment process, gathering insights through interviews, observations, and standardized measures.
  • Develop a comprehensive clinical formulation and Child and Family Plan of Care in partnership with families and support partners.
  • Deliver home-based psychotherapeutic interventions utilizing relational, dyadic psychotherapy and other therapeutic modalities.
  • Assist caregivers in gaining insights into their personal histories, feelings towards their children, and current parenting practices.
  • Provide crisis intervention support during urgent family needs, in consultation with Family Support Partners and Clinical Supervisors.
  • Conduct mental health and developmental assessments and offer consultation within early care and education settings.
  • Utilize video recordings to enhance therapeutic practices and reflective supervision.
  • Participate in regular individual and group reflective clinical supervision sessions.
  • Engage actively in all aspects of the Child First Learning Collaborative, including training and specialty workshops.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for clinical accountability and reimbursement purposes.
  • Participate in additional clinical and administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of three years of experience working with culturally diverse children and families in a therapeutic capacity, including parent-child therapy and play therapy for young children (0-5 years).
  • Willingness to learn, engage in self-reflection, and participate in reflective clinical supervision.
  • Understanding of relationship-based interventions, early childhood development, and the impact of trauma on child development.
  • Experience in providing mental health assessments and consultations in early childhood education settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a second language (Spanish preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and flexibility in work hours.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Familiarity with standard office software and tools.
  • Possession of a reliable vehicle for home visits.

Education:

  • Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, or a related field is required.
  • Preferred: Colorado licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT).

Working Environment
