Patient Access Representative

The Patient Access Representative I is a vital role within the Kaiser Permanente Health System environment. This position is responsible for ensuring a complete and accurate patient admission/registration process. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, prioritization, and independent thinking to navigate the complexities of patient registration and revenue collection.
Key Responsibilities:- Registration: Greets and registers patients for various medical services, including pre-registration and bedside registration. Collects demographic information, insurance data, and third-party liability information. Performs minimal eligibility verification and resolves discrepancies as needed.
- Revenue Collection: Determines and collects cost-shares, partial payments, and outstanding balances from patients. Enters payments in the computer, closes cash drawers, and creates deposits according to cash handling policies.
- Appointing: Schedules and cancels appointments based on member needs and regional protocol.
- Regulatory/Organizational Compliance: Completes regulatory or policy required forms, including payor requirements such as Medicare, L & I, and commercial payors. Maintains compliance with CMS regulations and adheres to HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- General Services: Stocks forms and supplies, assists patients with information and directions, and initiates safekeeping and return of patient valuables.
This position requires a professional service-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, prioritization, and independent thinking. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate complex patient registration and revenue collection processes.
