The Nursing Operations Manager plays a crucial role in supervising the Skilled Nursing Department, collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing to uphold high standards of resident care, activities, assessments, and interactions with nursing personnel. This position is vital in ensuring adherence to federal CMS guidelines and Title 22 regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage work schedules for nursing staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels that align with budgetary constraints and regulatory requirements.
- Recruit and maintain a skilled workforce to guarantee exceptional patient care delivery.
- Support the Human Resources department in the hiring process and performance evaluations of nursing staff.
- Ensure that all nursing personnel meet competency requirements and maintain current licensure and certifications.
- Oversee compliance with standards set by accrediting and regulatory agencies regarding resident care services.
- Engage with physicians regarding resident care, including monthly progress notes and annual evaluations.
- Be available for state licensing surveys and assist the Director of Nursing in assessing nursing care quality.
- Identify and evaluate the needs for supplies, equipment, and personnel.
- Facilitate orientation and ongoing education for nursing staff.
- Step in as a floor nurse to cover staffing gaps when necessary.
- Participate in management meetings and nursing staff discussions.
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required for success in this position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Current California nursing license.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, creativity, integrity, and initiative.
- Comprehensive understanding of Title 22, OBRA, and HCFA regulations.
- Physical and mental health sufficient to meet the demands of the role.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be prepared to engage in direct patient care activities as required.
