Postdoctoral Researcher in Microgrid Control

The University of St. Thomas invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the Center for Microgrid Research. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of advanced control systems for microgrid applications, working closely with the Center's director and team.
Responsibilities- Develop innovative solutions for microgrid control systems, including advanced modeling and analysis techniques.
- Create a digital twin of the microgrid and test control systems on the digital twin and real-world microgrid.
- Lead author on project reports, journal articles, conference papers, and presentations.
- Develop experimental test plans to collect data to validate modeling and analysis work.
- Supervise and lead student researchers (undergraduate and graduate).
- Work closely with the Center's director and the CMR team.
Minimum qualifications include a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field, with proven expertise in microgrid modeling and controls in Matlab/Simulink or similar. Demonstrated publication record, communication, time management, and teamwork skills are also required.

About the Center for Microgrid ResearchThe Center for Microgrid Research is in the midst of an exciting growth phase with more than $25 Million grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense (DOD), and Minnesota Department of Commerce. The Center's infrastructure is expanding in capability and size, with a unique networked-microgrids layout and state-of-the-art Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testbeds for controller-HIL, power-HIL, and power-system-HIL.
QualificationsPreferred qualifications include experience with modeling high power systems, hardware-in-the-loop testbeds, and digital twin creation, as well as experience with SEL RTAC 3555 or similar.
