Position Summary

The Commercial Loan Underwriter is tasked with conducting thorough credit evaluations for both new and existing commercial and agricultural loan portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute comprehensive credit assessments and financial statement analyses for commercial and agricultural loan accounts, including the calculation of Debt Service Coverage in accordance with banking standards.
  • Develop credit presentations that encapsulate the financial status of borrowers, assessing their repayment capabilities and collateral adequacy. Provide informed recommendations to loan officers and/or the loan committee based on this analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with Loan Officers to ensure a seamless underwriting process.
  • Investigate industry-specific data from external resources and deliver insightful analyses.
  • Engage with commercial clients on a regular basis alongside loan officers to build relationships and enhance the Bank's understanding of credit situations.
  • Fulfill credit administration duties as assigned, which may include annual reviews, monitoring financial covenants, and tracking borrowing bases.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the board of directors.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent banking experience.
  • Preferred prior experience in commercial credit.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office.
  • Formal training in Microsoft Excel is advantageous.
