About the Role:


The Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the billing team's activities, ensuring that invoices are issued accurately and promptly according to client deadlines and internal accounting schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the billing team, including balancing workloads and assigning tasks to lawyers.
  • Ensure precise preparation of client invoices and address any billing issues with partners.
  • Manage the resolution of rejected invoices, unallocated balances, and preparation of billing packets.
  • Comprehend complex billing arrangements, Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), and electronic billing challenges.
  • Provide training to billing staff on various billing functions and client arrangements.
  • Mentor and develop billing staff, including conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the revenue cycle to reduce delays in the billing and collection process.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to streamline billing operations.
  • Develop, test, and execute new billing procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with significant operational and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with senior management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with eBilling Hub, electronic billing vendor platforms, and Elite 3E.
