Job Summary

The University of Kansas seeks a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director to lead the Center for Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP). This key leadership position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that support the transition of new students to the University of Kansas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive orientation programs for undergraduate and graduate students, including online and in-person experiences.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure a seamless transition for students, including Academic Success units, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and Academic Affairs.
  • Supervise a team of professional staff, including the Assistant Director and coordinator levels, and provide guidance and coordination of professional development opportunities.
  • Manage the OTP budget and make budgetary recommendations to ensure efficient and effective resource allocation.
  • Utilize data and learning outcomes to inform program modifications and ensure alignment with institutional priorities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, education, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years' full-time professional experience leading programs focused on first-year students, student retention/success, orientation programs, or related experience.
  • Minimum of three years' experience providing supervision to staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in program assessment, evaluation, and the use of data to inform program modifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as demonstrated by application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience leading orientation, onboarding, and transition programs for undergraduate students.
  • Knowledge and working understanding of principles, practices, and procedures involved in orientation program development.
  • Experience working with student recruitment and admissions processes.
  • Demonstrated history of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to improve the student experience.
