Position Overview:
The Lead Clinical Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for making informed decisions based on complex and diverse information related to nutrition services. This role is integral to the executive leadership team within the Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) department.

Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing specialized leadership in clinical nutrition, serving as a professional and technical resource for staff and healthcare professionals.
  • Overseeing human resources, employee relations, and labor relations within the Clinical Nutrition section.
  • Exercising comprehensive supervisory and personnel management responsibilities, including planning, directing, and evaluating the work of subordinate staff.
  • Creating a training program for the clinical section grounded in evidence-based nutrition practices.
  • Developing and managing clinical nutrition operations effectively.
  • Setting strategic objectives and ensuring alignment with the overarching goals of the NFS department, VISN, and national initiatives.
  • Leading quality improvement initiatives within the Clinical Nutrition section, utilizing performance data to inform actions.
  • Identifying and prioritizing challenges, establishing both short and long-term objectives, and formulating action plans to enhance outcomes.
  • Formulating and revising policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Engaging with facility managers to influence decision-making and secure support for successful clinical nutrition operations.
  • Collaborating closely with the NFS management team to ensure comprehensive coverage of responsibilities within the department.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned that align with the role's responsibilities.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Telework options are available on an ad-hoc basis, but this role is not primarily virtual.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Registration as a Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) is required, along with current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

Preferred Experience:
Previous management experience and advanced certifications are highly regarded.

Physical Requirements:
This position necessitates visual acuity, clear communication, and manual dexterity. The role may involve extended periods of walking, standing, and other physical activities.

It is essential for candidates to be adaptable and capable of functioning effectively in high-pressure situations, adjusting priorities based on patient needs.
