Duties

Summary

This role is situated within the Nutrition and Food Service Department. The selected candidate will oversee the efficient delivery of meal services to patients.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of patient meal services by planning, coordinating, and directing activities in the kitchen, patient units, and dining areas.
  • Supervising a team of approximately 50 full-time and part-time Food Service Workers.
  • Managing daily kitchen operations during weekends and addressing any issues that arise in the absence of senior supervisors.
  • Opening and closing the department as required.
  • Collaborating with other supervisors to establish work schedules and prioritize tasks.
  • Training and mentoring staff on operational procedures and work expectations.
  • Participating in the recruitment and selection process for new hires.
  • Providing guidance to employees regarding performance and conduct, addressing complaints, and initiating disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Communicating daily operational updates to management and taking follow-up actions as needed.
  • Contributing to short and long-term planning for the Nutrition and Food Service, including staffing and budget considerations.
  • Conducting daily meetings to gather employee feedback and discuss work assignments.
  • Promoting a positive work environment through effective communication and morale-building initiatives.
  • Monitoring employee attendance and recommending adjustments to work plans as necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with hygiene practices and safety regulations.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and recommending improvements as appropriate.
  • Performing regular inspections of food service areas to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Staying informed about relevant regulations and guidelines.

Work Schedule: Must be available for any shift between the hours of 4:30 AM and 7:30 PM; weekend and holiday rotations are required.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Drug testing may be required.
  • Selective Service Registration is mandatory for males born after December 31, 1959.
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • Background/security investigation is necessary.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting moderate to heavy weights. The role may involve repetitive tasks and the use of safety equipment.
