The NYC Bar Association, established in 1870, serves as a voluntary collective of legal professionals and students. ROLE SUMMARY
Are you passionate about assisting individuals seeking legal guidance? This position allows you to work entirely from home, with occasional in-person meetings.

For over 75 years, we have dedicated ourselves to connecting individuals and businesses with the appropriate legal representation. The NYC Bar Legal Referral Service (LRS), founded in 1946, is the oldest of its kind in New York State and was the first in New York City to receive approval from the American Bar Association (ABA).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a high volume of inquiries via phone and email from the public
  • Assess legal concerns and guide clients to appropriate lawyers and resources
  • Provide fundamental legal information to the community
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of New York law and available legal resources
  • Engage in additional tasks such as legal research, public relations, marketing, and outreach as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Preferred knowledge of New York law and legal resources
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a legal setting
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to effectively manage challenging interactions
  • Capacity to remain composed in high-pressure situations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software

WORK AUTHORIZATION
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting salary for full-time positions ranges from $53,000 to $60,000, based on experience, with prorated compensation for part-time roles. The LRS operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Eastern time), with a daily closure from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Work schedules may vary.
