The MEP Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that projects adhere to the highest standards of safety, functionality, maintainability, efficiency, and operational readiness concerning MEP disciplines, while aligning with project specifications, scope, schedule, and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates estimating and preconstruction efforts to guarantee consistency, quality, and thoroughness.
- Participates in subcontractor and owner/architect meetings to stay informed on project developments, gain a comprehensive understanding of the MEP agenda, and monitor changes and their potential impacts.
- Ensures that drawings and specifications accurately represent the required construction quality and scope. Aids the Project Manager in reviewing and implementing MEP scopes of work.
- Leads the coordination of MEP and BIM as necessary.
- Maintains active communication with the Superintendent and Project Manager to identify and resolve MEP-related issues.
- Assists in developing and managing the scheduling of MEP tasks derived from the master schedule.
- Supports the development and management of ICRA plans for hospital projects as required.
- Helps in creating punch lists and observation reports that outline discrepancies from the Contract Documents and project schedule.
- Assists in overseeing the safety, quality, and compliance of all MEP scopes on the construction project.
- Reviews MEP subcontractor change order pricing and invoices for accuracy.
- Coordinates the scheduling of all shut-downs with the owner and MEP subcontractors as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 7-10 years of experience in MEP construction with a solid understanding of MEP construction methods and practices.
- Proven expertise in construction, particularly in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing practices.
- Experience working around energized electrical systems, controlling hazardous energies, and implementing proper PPE and lockout/tag out procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop critical-path schedules and manage trade performance and productivity.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment, maintaining composure and effectively resolving conflicts.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convey information professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- In-depth knowledge of critical facility operational requirements.
- Strong comprehension of the commissioning process and its requirements.
- Exceptional capability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Skill in organizing tasks and establishing priorities.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- A valid NY State driver's license is required for travel to project sites throughout the Northeast.
