Essential Qualifications:
- Over 7 years of experience in Middleware technologies
- Proficient in JBOSS or Oracle WebLogic, along with similar Middleware products (application servers) and web servers (Tomcat, Apache, WebSphere, etc.)
- Expertise in application administration including installation, configuration, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and production support
- Experience with J2EE/Java applications at the enterprise level
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Jython, Python, YAML, and Perl
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, SiteScope, or AppDynamics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a financial enterprise environment (highly desirable)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
- Familiarity with ITS Remedy or Jira for incident ticket management and production issue resolution
Daily Responsibilities:
Insight Global is looking for a Middleware Engineer to join a prominent financial client. This role is part of the Architecture and Engineering team, focusing on the Global Wholesale Banking infrastructure applications. The Middleware team oversees a distributed architecture framework that hosts J2EE applications. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in technical infrastructure management and engineering, complemented by hands-on experience.
In this role, the Middleware Engineer will be tasked with designing and building web-based application servers within a UNIX infrastructure. Collaboration with application and testing teams will be essential for deploying new applications in the JBoss and WebLogic environments. Responsibilities include gathering application configuration requirements and facilitating necessary changes with administrators and product vendors. Ensuring production stability through ongoing monitoring and support is critical, alongside providing Middleware Application Server administration, which encompasses installations, configurations, performance tuning, routine maintenance, and patching of enterprise-wide architectures.
The Middleware Engineer will work closely with development and testing teams on end-to-end project initiatives, which include building new features and functions for systems, creating new infrastructure to support middleware or production servers, and designing for high availability and failover capabilities. This position supports critical projects and necessitates direct engagement with stakeholders. A strong preference exists for candidates with expertise in JBoss, followed by WebSphere and WebLogic.
