Position Overview

The Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) at the University of Pennsylvania is a leader in pioneering clinical trials aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) is dedicated to enhancing cancer care, improving clinical outcomes, and providing innovative care to trial participants. The CRU comprises 12 specialized Research Teams that support specific medical oncology programs.

The Cell Therapy & Transplant Research Team is seeking a full-time, registered Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) to manage studies involving various investigational products and sponsors. This role will report to the Director of Clinical Research Operations and collaborate closely with Physician Investigators on clinical research initiatives. A strong commitment to subject safety and well-being is essential, alongside compliance with all relevant policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Research Team Leaders and Principal Investigators to initiate study procedures for new investigator-initiated trials and industry-sponsored clinical trials, overseeing all phases of clinical trials.
  • Engage directly with physicians to design, establish, and execute clinical trials, assisting with recruitment, screening, and communication with sponsors and stakeholders throughout the trial lifecycle.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clinical teams, including laboratory, infusion, radiology, and pharmacy, providing education and support as necessary.
  • Deliver care to subjects across all age groups, developing nursing care plans in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and study team, while adhering to research guidelines.
  • Review clinical and laboratory data, reporting adverse events in real-time to the Principal Investigator and coordinating with medical staff for protocol-specific management.
  • Address inquiries from subjects regarding protocol specifics and investigational products, ensuring appropriate referrals to the Principal Investigator or medical team as needed.
  • Collect, review, and report study data accurately and timely, coordinating with institutional committees for necessary approvals.
  • Provide support to other research nurses and coordinators to meet departmental staffing needs, with a flexible schedule to accommodate research subject visits.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with unrestricted licensure in Pennsylvania. A Bachelor's degree with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience is required; oncology experience is highly preferred.
  • Clinical research experience is preferred but not mandatory. A BSN degree is advantageous.

This position is contingent on continued funding.
