Position Overview

The Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) at the University of Pennsylvania is a leader in pioneering and executing innovative clinical trials aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The mission of the ACC Clinical Research Unit (CRU) is to enhance the science of cancer care, improve clinical outcomes for patients, and provide the best available innovative care to trial participants. The ACC CRU plays a crucial role in the development and execution of clinical trials that offer advanced oncology treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Research Team Leaders and Principal Investigators to initiate study procedures for new investigator-initiated trials and industry-sponsored clinical trials. Oversee all phases of clinical trials from Phase I to IV.
  • Engage directly with physicians to design, establish, and implement clinical trials. Assist in the recruitment, screening, and confirmation of participant eligibility, while maintaining communication with sponsors and stakeholders throughout the trial lifecycle.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clinical teams, including laboratory, infusion, radiology, and pharmacy, ensuring comprehensive support for all research activities.
  • Provide care for subjects across all age groups, establishing nursing care plans in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and study team, in accordance with research guidelines.
  • Review clinical and laboratory data, reporting adverse events in real-time to the Principal Investigator for assessment and management.
  • Address inquiries from subjects regarding protocol specifics, investigational products, and symptom management, referring complex issues to the Principal Investigator or medical team as necessary.
  • Collect, review, and report study data accurately and within specified timelines, coordinating with institutional committees for necessary approvals.
  • Support other research nurses and coordinators to meet departmental staffing needs, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling to accommodate research subjects.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with licensure in Pennsylvania, holding a Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Oncology experience is highly preferred.

This position is contingent on continued funding.
