Position Overview:

The Facility Services Technician plays a crucial role within the Facility Services Department, executing a range of responsibilities to ensure a safe and clean environment. This position primarily focuses on maintaining security and performing essential maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adheres to and promotes safe working practices.

• Acts as the primary contact for after-hours facility services.

• Responds promptly to after-hours maintenance requests.

• Manages waste disposal, including trash, linen, and bio-waste, while ensuring linen supplies are stocked.

• Conducts regular security patrols.

• Responds to emergency situations as required.

• Completes incident reports for tasks performed.

• Addresses minor spills and maintains cleanliness.

• Performs routine floor care and maintenance.

• Conducts surveillance rounds to ensure safety.

• Responsible for locking and unlocking doors as needed.

• Provides escort services within the facility.

• Spreads ice melt during winter conditions to ensure safety.

• Cleans outdoor areas by removing litter.

• Engages in pressure washing, window cleaning, and other assigned tasks.

• Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively perform the duties outlined in this description, while consistently showcasing competency in job performance.

Accountability:

• Reports to: Assistant System Director of Facility Services

• Supervises: None

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.

• Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

• Must fulfill all necessary health screenings and vaccinations.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of the Facility Services Technician, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands for handling objects, and communicate effectively. The role may also require occasional standing, sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

• Strength Requirements: Heavy lifting (20 to 100 lbs) may be necessary.

• Standing/Walking: Required constantly (2/3 of the time or more).

• Keyboard/Dexterity: Required occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time).

• Communication: Must be able to communicate verbally.

• Vision: Required.

• Hearing: Required.

Environmental Conditions:

• High exposure to hazardous conditions, including potential exposure to infections, electrical equipment, and chemicals.

• May require working in varying weather conditions.
