About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Science and Technology Manager to join our team at Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. This is a key leadership position that will oversee all technical, engineering, process, and maintenance functions for our Richmond Chemical Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage technical and engineering processes and budgets, manufacturing maintenance, and product functions for a chemical plant that operates 6 days per week.
  • Ensure resources are available for routine and emergency manufacturing support for equipment and processes and balance this against deliverables for strategic projects and continuous improvement goals.
  • Own site Capital Expenditure budget and projects, NPI (new product introduction) site level requirements, material replacement and shelf-life extension projects, and compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and direct the timely execution of projects, from inception to completion, performing research and developing recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection of new and existing technologies considering project deliverables, timelines, and risks.
  • Design, implement, and sustain key management processes in support of validation, maintenance, and calibration.
  • Develop and monitor appropriate metrics and reports on team performance, capital project progression, and continuous improvement activities for a variety of audiences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a general or applied science such as Engineering, Biochemistry, or Chemistry is required. MS/PhD Preferred.
  • 8+ years supervisory/management experience required in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project and/or program management experience required and strong analytical and proven problem-solving capability along with demonstrated sound business decisions.
  • Advanced Knowledge and experience in: Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing, new product transfer, equipment design, process analysis, equipment maintenance, calibration systems, ERP, validation processes, FDA/ISO regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, and communication skills and ability to communicate at all organizational levels professionally and effectively.
  • Experience developing subordinate supervisors and building high-performance teams across multi-departmental organizations.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $149,000 to $204,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
