Position Overview

The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist is responsible for delivering and supporting pharmaceutical services, which includes the stocking, preparation, and distribution of medications. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee pharmacy technicians and other support personnel effectively
  • Interpret and accurately transcribe or verify medication orders into the clinical information system
  • Monitor medication therapy for potential contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug selection and dosage
  • Provide clinical advice and clarification to healthcare practitioners
  • Participate in daily clinical rounds
  • Deliver accurate and timely medication information to patients and healthcare providers
  • Engage in mandatory training programs for pharmacists

Additional Responsibilities

  • Complete required orientation as directed by the organization
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while on duty
  • Follow the organization's Unusual Occurrence Protocol
  • Respect the cultural and religious practices of patients
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability for assigned shifts

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited institution
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a pharmacist in a healthcare setting
  • PGY1 Residency preferred
  • IV Certification required
