Job Summary:

The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University invites applications for the 12-month position of Department Chair of Accounting & Business Law. The successful candidate will provide administrative and academic leadership for the department, implementing the department's and college's goals, and giving special attention to the objectives for the academic programs of the department.

Responsibilities:
  • Administration: Implement a department mission, including short- and long-term plans, based on the university's vision statement and goals, and the mission and strategic plan of the college.
  • Fiscal: Administer the departmental budget and collaborate with department faculty in planning the budget.
  • Leadership: Mentor department faculty, participate in the development of school/college and university policies, and contribute to AACSB accreditation efforts.
Requirements:
  • Educational Requirements: A terminal degree (PhD, ABD, or JD) from an accredited university.
  • Other Required Qualifications: Recognized scholars with active research records in their respective disciplines, a record of exemplary teaching, a strong commitment to the public liberal arts mission, excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with external constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least three years of academic leadership experience at the level of chair or higher.
