About the Job

Student Counseling Services (SCS) and the Carlson School of Management (CSOM) Undergraduate (UG) programs are seeking a licensed mental health professional to fill an embedded counseling position to provide services to their students.

The counselor will function within the CSOM UG department and be supervised by Student Counseling Services. This position will work closely with SCS staff, program staff, and students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address mental health, career, and academic concerns
  • Provide intake and crisis intervention services
  • Assess and develop effective treatment plans and make appropriate referrals of student clients
  • Serve as an advocate and liaison in the referral of students to on- and off-campus resources
  • Provide consultation services for students, faculty, staff, and parents or family members of students, related to psychological issues
  • Conduct and collaborate on psycho-educational workshops and preventive outreach for students, faculty, and staff
  • Engage in committees and other team work related to well-being, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with Student Counseling Services policy and procedure

Qualifications

  • Masters degree with six years of experience, or a terminal degree in a mental health field with two years of experience
  • Independent licensure as a social worker (LICSW), psychologist (LP), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or marriage & family therapist in Minnesota (LMFT)
  • Demonstrated experience providing culturally-responsive and anti-oppressive counseling services to historically marginalized or underrepresented clients
