Job Summary

Dennis Group is a leading design build engineering firm and general contractor that specializes in designing and building food and beverage processing facilities. We are seeking a highly skilled Packaging Systems Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop packaging flow diagrams, material balance, packaging matrix, equipment specifications, OEE documents, speed matrix, and V-Curve.
  • Develop budget estimates and create and follow up with equipment bid packages.
  • Develop and maintain delivery and installation schedule.
  • Understand size and placement of support equipment.
  • Provide expertise in manufacturing and packaging design principles.
  • Design systems including conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing, and palletizing.
  • Assist in process simulation.
  • Develop project-specific procurement documents for packaging equipment.
  • Assist with machine and process design.
  • Preparation of machine testing requirements and procedures.
  • Survey existing conditions.
  • On-site construction project coordination to assist with the installation and commissioning of packaging equipment.
  • Supervise equipment vendors and installation crews.
  • Attend and present at client meetings.
  • Lead factory acceptance testing at vendors' shop.
  • Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, packaging, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 4+ years of work experience in a related field.
  • Must meet travel requirements - on-site construction project coordination and management with travel requirements between 30-50% of the year.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a positive, can-do, team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizing, and time management skills.
  • Must have experience in project definition, equipment design/layout, process design, equipment design, machine testing procedures, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Experience working for food and beverage manufacturing, food and beverage design firms, or professional engineering firms is a plus.
