Upward Bound House (UBH) is dedicated to ending the cycle of intergenerational family homelessness. Our mission-driven organization provides a continuum of services ranging from crisis housing to permanent housing and homelessness prevention.
Job SummaryThe Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) Time Limited Subsidy Rapid Rehousing Program at UBH seeks a highly motivated and compassionate Youth Housing Advocate to provide housing-focused case management services and rental assistance to Transition Age Youth (TAY) and young adults experiencing homelessness.
As a critical member of our team, you will work collaboratively with participants to rapidly access permanent housing and supportive services, promoting long-term housing stability.
Key Responsibilities- Provide field-based, housing-focused case management and supportive services to TAY and young adults experiencing homelessness.
- Identify, engage, and support landlords in facilitating rapid rehousing for program participants.
- Collaborate with UBH's TAY Transitional Housing Shelters to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Develop and implement comprehensive Housing Service Plans in collaboration with program participants.
- Educate participants on tenant rights and responsibilities, promoting self-sufficiency and long-term housing stability.
- Negotiate rent and security deposits with landlords to ensure affordability for program participants.
- Perform rent calculations and counsel participants on budgeting and money management for housing expenses.
- Network with community resources to provide referrals for services such as employment, education, and healthcare.
- Maintain accurate records and report client outcomes in HMIS, ensuring timely entry of data and complete accuracy.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with unhoused populations, with a focus on Transition Age Youth preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fair housing laws and practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including those impacted by trauma, substance use, and mental health.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency and crisis situations.
- Intermediate proficiency in Windows Office Suite programs and data management systems, with HMIS experience a plus.
- A competitive salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
