Position Overview

Capital Area Community Services Inc. Head Start is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Assistant Teacher. This position offers competitive compensation based on qualifications:

  • $14.80 per hour for those without a CDA
  • $15.98 per hour for those with a CDA
  • $18.21 per hour for candidates holding a degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development

Incentives:

We are pleased to offer a $1,000 sign-on bonus, distributed as follows: $500 after 90 days and $500 after 120 days of employment.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Teacher will collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement tailored educational plans and classroom activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting each child's social, emotional, intellectual, language, and physical growth in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and accurate documentation of each child's developmental progress.
Qualifications

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent, with coursework in child development leading to a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. CDA certification must be obtained within two years of employment.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a childcare environment is required.

Position Duties

The Assistant Teacher will:

  • Foster a warm and developmentally suitable classroom atmosphere.
  • Regularly communicate with supervisors regarding classroom dynamics, children's progress, and any necessary resources.
  • Collaborate with Family Advocates to ensure full enrollment and consistent attendance.
  • Work alongside fellow educators and support staff to meet educational objectives and deliver comprehensive programming.
  • Assist in organizing family engagement events and encourage parental involvement in the program.
