Controller Job Description

Vaco Boston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and operational management, including budgeting and accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement financial and operational strategies
  • Establish and improve internal control systems to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements and operating reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Oversee the processing of transactions and accounting data, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
  • Work with external audit teams to ensure a smooth audit process
  • Manage the annual audit process and ensure timely completion
  • Provide monthly financial reporting to leadership, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement
  • Assess organizational performance against budgets and provide recommendations for improvement
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MBA, and CPA preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Controller, with supervisory experience and 4 direct reports
  • Strong cost accounting and Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
