Key Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care
- Accurately and timely document patient information, progress notes, and observation sheets
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, adhering to professional boundaries
- Participate in patient rounds and teams to ensure comprehensive care
- Complete patient care assignments and prioritize tasks effectively
- Identify and de-escalate crisis situations using non-verbal and verbal techniques
- Communicate changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse
- Therapeutic Milieu
- Participate in planning and implementation of patient groups and activities
- Provide and supervise recreation and other off-hall activities according to patient needs
- Provide direction, support, and supervision to patients as needed
- Follow established Nursing policies, procedures, and protocols
- Unit Environment
- Identify and report house cleaning and equipment problems to the Unit Secretary/ND
- Participate in the unit's inventory system and report low supplies
- Initiate activities that promote a clean and organized patient and staff environment
- Activities of Daily Living
- Identify patient hygiene needs and implement interventions to meet these needs
- Provide for patients' nutritional needs according to unit procedure
- Assist and reassure patients during tests, exams, and procedures
- Escort and supervise patients on and off ground, maintaining patient safety
- Professional Growth and Competency
- Complete mandatory in-service requirements
- Identify areas of strength and areas for professional development with supervisor
- Maintain competency for treating age-specific patient populations
- Seek constructive feedback from peers and professional colleagues
- Education
- High School diploma or GED required
- Experience
- Previous experience in direct patient care preferred
- Skills
- Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in collaboration with others
