Job Title: AVP, Solution Architect

At Synchrony, we're seeking a highly skilled AVP, Solution Architect to join our team. As a key member of our solution development workstream, you'll be responsible for designing one or more applications or services that meet the needs of our business.

The ideal candidate will have a balanced mix of technical and business skills, with a deep understanding of business processes and the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms. You'll work closely with enterprise architects to provide strategic direction and make technical decisions that impact business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and integrate information systems that meet specific business needs, involving the integration of software and hardware.
  • Organize the development effort and provide guidance to the development team during the SDLC.
  • Choose the most appropriate technology for a problem, striking a balance between architectural and business considerations.
  • Focus on using technology to solve business problems, selecting the right framework, platform, or tech-stack, and ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of full stack development experience using Spring, JEE technologies, API, microservices, and UI technologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in application architecture and design, with a strong hold on associated patterns, processes, and tools.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong working knowledge of FinTech industry as it relates to consumer financing.
  • Deep experience in service-oriented architecture.
  • Agile expertise with SAFe knowledge.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
  • Experience with dependency management tools like Maven, Gradle, and NPM.
  • Experience with continuous integration environments like Jenkins.
  • Experience building and deploying applications on Cloud.
  • Experience generating OpenAPI / Swagger specifications.
  • Working knowledge of API gateways.
  • Expertise in mobile solutions, including native and mobile web.

Grade/Level: 11

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level, or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation, and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process.
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
