The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced professional to lead our P&C Climate Risk and Exposure program. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for providing insight and analysis to enable USAA to proactively manage catastrophe exposures in a changing climate. You'll drive the vision and forward-looking action regarding climate change and its impact on members, the association, and reinsurance/capital markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement tools, processes, and metrics to manage catastrophe risk through underwriting.
  • Collaborate with Product Line, Underwriting, and Pricing leadership to ensure the use and impact of catastrophe models result in pricing, product development, and exposure management solutions.
  • Lead the research agenda in exposure management and data through AI tools and cat models with a forward-looking multi-year view.
  • Recommend multi-year catastrophe loss plans to Product Leaders, reflecting up-to-date projections of catastrophe exposures.
  • Represent USAA in discussions with regulatory and legislative initiatives, including catastrophe funds.
  • Build and oversee a team of professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching, and support.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative field, or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required.
  • 10 years of experience working in data and analytics, including pricing, loss reserving, reinsurance, catastrophe risk management, or a related field.
  • 6 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of climate change risk analysis and modeling.
  • Significant experience using quantitative approaches and models to measure insurance catastrophe risk.
  • Extensive experience in catastrophe risk underwriting, capital management, and pricing.
