This full-time role operates on a schedule from Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday.

Position Summary

This is a newly established role within our cooperative, designed to provide support across various departments based on staffing requirements. The primary focus will be on aiding with product procurement, preparing production task lists, managing inventory, and maintaining accurate records.

Daily Responsibilities

The main objective of this position is to offer assistance in any department that requires support. This may involve working in multiple departments within a single day. This role is part of our grocery team and reports directly to the Grocery Manager. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with department managers regarding daily operations, requirements, and challenges.
  • Reporting performance-related issues to department managers in a timely, respectful, and consistent manner.
  • Fostering effective and respectful communication with all staff to promote a positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Assisting department managers with product ordering, receiving, and pricing tasks.
  • Identifying and resolving errors and potential issues within the department.
  • Supporting the training of department personnel.
  • Ensuring all department staff are informed of any changes in policies and procedures.
  • Guaranteeing that department staff respond to phone inquiries and requests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintaining knowledge of products and presentation techniques, as well as quality standards.
  • Ensuring cleanliness in department cases and preparation areas.
  • Receiving product deliveries, verifying order accuracy, and ensuring product quality.
  • Preparing meat department items and maintaining back stock areas according to departmental standards.
  • Demonstrating awareness of current promotional events relevant to the department.
  • Adhering to and enforcing all food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations as per company, local, state, and federal health codes; identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management.
  • Effectively communicating with customers and addressing their inquiries and requests promptly.
  • Greeting customers warmly throughout the store and assisting them with product retrieval and heavy item handling.

Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a grocery department is preferred.
  • Prior experience with inventory management and ordering processes.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Attention to detail, safety, and customer service.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment where ongoing communication is vital.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be capable of lifting 20 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent requirements include standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching, as well as cutting with a knife or box cutter.
  • Occasional requirements include operating a baler and trash compactor.
