Position Overview:
As a Transit Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the daily activities of vehicle operators, ensuring efficient route management and optimal staffing levels. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering a cohesive team environment through effective communication and training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise all vehicle operators to guarantee timely scheduling and efficient service delivery.
- Provide guidance and support to develop a strong team through effective communication, performance evaluations, and training initiatives.
- Address service disruptions, including rerouting and incident management, to restore service promptly; assist operators in documenting incidents.
- Engage with passengers to offer assistance as needed.
- Investigate reports of unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions to enhance safety.
- Notify relevant supervisory staff of operational challenges and collaborate on solutions.
- Review and coach DriveCam footage to improve operator performance.
- Conduct safety evaluations through ride checks of vehicle operators.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all operational information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum age of 21 with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of relevant leadership experience in a similar role.
- Possession of a Commercial Driving License with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret maps and transit regulations.
- Ability to successfully complete a DOT physical examination, including background and drug screening.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks; must be able to communicate effectively.
- Frequent sitting is required.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling may be necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Work is performed outdoors, monitoring routes and facilities, and may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Office work includes sitting at a desk, using a computer, and handling phone communications.
