Position Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Role Overview:

As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing care and assistance to adults with IDD in a group home setting. Your duties will include ensuring the safety, well-being, and comfort of residents during the afternoon and evening hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing, assisting, and supporting residents with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, grooming, and medication administration.
  • Monitoring and addressing any medical or behavioral needs in accordance with established protocols.
  • Creating a positive and empowering environment within the group home by encouraging social interaction, recreational activities, and skill enhancement.
  • Documenting observations, incidents, and interventions accurately in resident records.
  • Collaborating with team members, including case managers, healthcare professionals, and families, to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment through light housekeeping duties and regular safety checks.

If you have a passion for assisting others, this position provides valuable experience in various fields such as Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Pre-med, or human services. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with IDD or in a similar caregiving capacity is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain composure, patience, and empathy in challenging situations.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures with a willingness to learn and adhere to healthcare protocols.
  • Dependability, responsibility, and the ability to work independently.

Available Shifts:

Sunday 8am-8pm, Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-9pm

Tuesday-Friday 2:30pm-9pm, Saturday 8am-8pm
