Job Summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory tests on soil, asphalt, and concrete materials to ensure compliance with company and client specifications.
  • Prepare and process material samples, including weighing and drying, to ensure accurate test results.
  • Enter test data into our database and maintain accurate records of testing procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment at all times.
  • Meet attendance and punctuality expectations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • General maintenance skills and basic math skills.
  • Ability to learn and follow instructions.
  • ACI Level I or II certification and ACI Strength testing certification required.
  • Nuclear gauge certification required.
  • Previous experience in construction materials testing preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods and perform equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for hazardous materials.
  • Wear steel-toed shoes as needed.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
