Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials used in our projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory tests on soil, asphalt, and concrete materials to ensure compliance with company and client specifications.
- Prepare and process material samples, including weighing and drying, to ensure accurate test results.
- Enter test data into our database and maintain accurate records of testing procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment at all times.
- Meet attendance and punctuality expectations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- General maintenance skills and basic math skills.
- Ability to learn and follow instructions.
- ACI Level I or II certification and ACI Strength testing certification required.
- Nuclear gauge certification required.
- Previous experience in construction materials testing preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods and perform equipment maintenance.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for hazardous materials.
- Wear steel-toed shoes as needed.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
