Pediatric Liaison Nurse Job Summary

The UCLA Health Pediatric Liaison Nurse/Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator plays a vital role in the clinical management and administrative coordination of the nursing unit. This position combines clinical (direct care) and administrative responsibilities, requiring a unique blend of skills and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with pediatric, hospital, and prehospital personnel both in-house and with outside organizations.
  • Maintain a communication loop between the organization and outside pediatric groups.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest EDAP standards and lead the department to meet and maintain these standards.
  • Participate in EDAP survey application process and EDAP site survey visits.
  • Develop and promote pediatric emergency education for the emergency department staff.
  • Develop and deliver pediatric-specific orientation for new staff.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of pediatric quality improvement programs.
  • Maintain pediatric-specific certifications and EDAP required education as outlined in Los Angeles County standards.
  • Promote pediatric disaster preparedness for the ED and participate in hospital disaster-preparedness activities.
  • Promote patient and family education in illness and injury prevention.

Requirements:

  • A current, valid California RN Nursing Licensure is required.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, PALS, and ACLS are required.
  • Graduation from a registered BSN or MSN program must be verified upon hire.
