Position Summary:
The Facility Maintenance and Transportation Specialist will work under the guidance of the Senior Director of Facilities and Transportation. This role is essential in creating a positive environment for the youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain. By ensuring clean facilities and safe transportation, you play a vital part in enhancing the well-being and comfort of our young members. Your responsibilities extend beyond mere transportation; you help foster a welcoming atmosphere that enriches the experiences of children at the club.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of facilities, including floors, walls, and furniture.
- Manage waste disposal in accordance with organizational standards.
- Set up and rearrange furniture for various program activities.
- Assist youth, program staff, and other personnel as directed by the supervisor.
- Support building maintenance tasks, such as minor repairs and upkeep.
- Transport supplies and equipment as needed for program activities.
- Operate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and lubrication services.
- Conduct inventory checks for custodial supplies.
- Participate in the facility maintenance program.
- Manage security and fire safety systems.
- Inspect facilities for deficiencies and report findings.
- Monitor property and grounds to deter trespassing and vandalism.
- Order custodial supplies as necessary.
- Maintain a valid bus license and accept driving assignments as required.
- Safely operate vehicles, including buses, following all traffic laws.
- Ensure the safety of passengers, particularly youth, during transport.
- Conduct inspections of the bus before and after trips.
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus safely.
- Keep the bus interior clean and organized.
- Communicate effectively with program staff regarding transportation logistics.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage and fuel usage.
- Attend training sessions to stay updated on transportation regulations.
- Collaborate with staff to coordinate transportation for events and activities.
- Provide excellent service to passengers and represent the organization positively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to drive a bus safely and efficiently
- Valid North Carolina State CDL Class B license
- (P) Passenger and (S) School bus endorsements on CDL
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with children
- CPR/First Aid/AED certifications
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to:
- Stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Climb or balance.
- Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift more than 100 pounds.
- Possess specific vision abilities including depth perception and color vision.
