Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager, Building Services to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional facilities management services to the George I Sanchez Building, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate building maintenance and repairs, including scheduling and supervising contractors and vendors.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the building to identify and address any issues or concerns.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve facilities management processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to ensure that facilities meet their needs and expectations.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of facilities-related activities, including maintenance requests, repairs, and inspections.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans to ensure the safety of building occupants in the event of an emergency.
  • Provide training and guidance to facilities staff on best practices and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to facilities management.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role. A bachelor's degree in a related field is required, and a master's degree is preferred. The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a university or higher education setting is highly desirable. The candidate should have a strong understanding of facilities management principles and practices, as well as experience with budgeting and financial management. A certification in facilities management, such as CFM or FMP, is also preferred.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and competing priorities. The candidate should be able to work effectively in a team environment, with minimal supervision. The position requires frequent travel to various locations on campus, as well as occasional work outside of regular business hours.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The University of Texas at Austin offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
