The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Grants and Contracts Specialist or Administrator to support pre and post award activity. This position will report to the Administrative Director and work closely with a team of Administrative Personnel.

Job Summary:

The Grants and Contracts Specialist/Administrator will collaborate with Principal Investigators to ensure proposals are complete and submitted to the Office of Grants and Contracts in compliance with their policies. They will monitor websites for updated information and work with central offices and PIs to ensure proposal acceptance. The Specialist/Administrator will partner with faculty on grant budget reviews and assist with budget modifications if needed. They will monitor personnel and OTPS expenses as they occur to ensure they conform to budget and federal costing principles. They will initiate costing allocations, payroll accounting adjustments, journal entries, provide monthly reconciliation of accounts, assist with JIT requests, Progress Reports, and effort reporting in the new PAC System.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with PIs to ensure proposals are complete and submitted to the Office of Grants and Contracts

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of grants and contracts systems, including Oracle, ERA Commons, NIH Assist, and Workspace. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. A Bachelor's degree and at least three years of grant and contract experience are required. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is preferred.

What We Offer:

The University of Virginia offers a competitive salary range of $50,000-70,000 depending on qualifications. The selected applicant will be required to complete a background check and health assessment per university policy. This is a hybrid position offering three days in the office and two days off grounds.
