About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care, increasing access, and improving outcomes for our nation's Veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a wide range of health care services, including diagnosis and management of acute, chronic, and complex health problems, health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
  • Perform within your clinical scope of practice, including obtaining and evaluating medical histories, performing physical examinations, performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, and ordering laboratory studies, radiographs, electrocardiograms, and other special examinations.
  • Make arrangements for further care if appropriate and serve as a consultant to other providers.
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of staff, including trainees and a multidisciplinary staff, in a fast-paced educational and collegial environment.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based nursing protocols and organize educational activities targeted toward staff training and development.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen.
  • English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
  • Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) - formerly known as the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) - OR - The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certification: Must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a NP in a State and maintain full and current certification as a NP from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission (ACEN-Formerly NCLAC) or the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Experience as an RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration, and Scientific Inquiry.
