POSITION FUNCTION/OVERVIEW:

This role is integral to delivering comprehensive healthcare services akin to those provided by a physician. Responsibilities include conducting patient evaluations, documenting medical histories, maintaining accurate patient records, identifying potential health risks, prescribing necessary medications, making referrals, and addressing various health conditions. In certain environments, the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) offers both psychotherapy and medication management to a diverse patient population experiencing mental health issues and substance use disorders, under the guidance of consulting psychiatrists. The ARNP is also involved in assessment, treatment planning, and discharge processes for individuals in substance abuse treatment facilities or psychiatric institutions.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the mission, values, and vision of Mandala Healing Center.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients while adhering to confidentiality and privacy protocols in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and authorize all diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
  • Educate patients on disease prevention, health promotion, and management of existing health conditions.
  • Prescribe suitable pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options.
  • Implement strategies to assist patients in achieving or maintaining physiological stability, including serving in a supportive role.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented interventions.
  • Facilitate patient transitions within and between healthcare settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and make appropriate referrals.
  • Support decision-making for staff, patients, and families by providing educational resources.
  • Conduct therapy sessions, medication evaluations, and crisis interventions for both new and existing patients. Develop individualized service plans based on assessment data and provide necessary therapeutic interventions, including ongoing medication management.
  • Offer consultation and health education to staff, caregivers, and patients regarding treatment and medication needs.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of services, including service plans, progress notes, medication consent forms, quarterly treatment plan reviews, and other required information in accordance with agency and third-party compliance standards.
  • Receive medical oversight from psychiatric consultants in line with established protocols for providing Family Nurse Practitioner services.
  • Administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, and intravenous routes.
  • Respond to all forms of communication related to client care needs.
  • Review medications during initial and follow-up visits, ensuring comprehensive patient education.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric nursing from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure; Nurse Practitioner certification in the specialty area is preferred.
  • Current CNOR/CRNFA certification (if applicable).
  • Valid RN license in Florida.
  • Waiver to prescribe Buprenorphine is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in chemical dependency, addiction, psychiatric detox, medical/surgical nursing, or dual diagnosis substance programs, or two (2) years of experience in the Nurse Practitioner role.
  • Extensive knowledge of the causes of serious mental illness, developmental, and substance use disorders, along with their treatment through various therapeutic interventions, including psychopharmacology.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission and AHCA standards is preferred.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Electronic Medical Records, Billing Systems, and/or other scheduling applications; KIPU experience is preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS certification as required by department and facility.
