About the Role

We are seeking a talented software engineer to join our IAM Dataplane team, responsible for building and operating backend authentication and authorization services within AWS. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex problems and create innovative solutions that transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solve challenging technical problems, often ones not solved before, at every layer of the stack.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to improve service performance, durability, cost, and security.
  • Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
  • Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.
  • Provide technical leadership for the team and collaborate across organizations.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers.
About the Team

The IAM Dataplane team is responsible for building and operating backend authentication and authorization services within AWS. We continually seek to improve the customer experience for our services by extending capabilities, optimizing performance, and innovating with architectural and scalability improvements.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
