Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Mentor Extender to join our team at Inova Health System. As a Clinical Mentor Extender, you will play a critical role in supporting new nurses and providing instruction during our New Grad Boot Camp program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to new nurses in a clinical setting, focusing on enhancing their communication skills, time management, and decision-making abilities.
  • Assist new nurses in developing their confidence and competency in skills such as prioritization, delegation, and de-escalation.
  • Facilitate clinical-based employee training in a classroom setting to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clinical mentors to provide hand-offs and support to new nurses, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of new nurses.
Requirements
  • Two years of progressive experience in an acute care clinical setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Ability to facilitate clinical-based employee training in a classroom setting to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Relevant teaching experience and/or 3 months of experience serving as a preceptor preferred.
  • BLS certification required from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of VA.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, requiring a minimum of one day per week and one weekend shift every third week, in addition to two boot camp sessions per quarter. The RN will be assigned to one campus per shift and will not be expected to travel to different campuses while on shift.
