About the Role

Hartford HealthCare's Midstate Medical Center is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to join our Surgical Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with surgeons, and contributing to the success of our department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily patient rounds and implement therapeutic interventions
  • Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation
  • Perform H&P and discharge summaries for patients
  • Order diagnostic studies as part of the clinical treatment plan
  • First assist surgeons in the operating room
  • Perform and assist with bedside procedures
  • Display professional competency in the OR
  • Identify and provide teaching for patients, families, and other healthcare providers

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of Connecticut
  • Hold certification or be eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse through AACN or ANCC
  • Have AGACNP Board Certification as an acute care nurse practitioner and/or critical care AP experience
  • Hold RNFA (RN First Assist) Certification

Preferred Requirements

3+ years of experience working as a First Assistant in the operating room is preferred. Robotic training is a plus.
