We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct, non-invasive, and routine patient care and related support services within an in-patient or out-patient environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Patient Care: Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living: Meals, ambulation, hygiene, linen change, and toileting as instructed.
- Maintain Therapeutic Plan of Care: Minute-to-minute care of patients who are at extreme risk to themselves or others.
- Document Patient Information: Complete documentation as required on the Electronic Medical Record.
- Enhance Professional Growth: Participate in educational programs, read current literature, attend in-services, meetings, and workshops.
- Education: High School or GED Equivalent, Certificate, and Education specialization: CNA or Cert EMT-B (ICU) or 1 semester accredited nurse program.
- Experience: 6 months patient care experience.
- Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days.
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Working conditions: Significant Hazard: Chemicals, Bio-Hazardous Materials require PPE, Limited access to med room. Med Admin Policy, Att A.
