Critical Care Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. As a member of our Staffing Department, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing direct patient care and clinical leadership to our patients and families.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Assume relief charge duties when designated, providing clinical leadership and guidance to other staff members.
- Participate in orientation and precepting of new personnel, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations and discharge planning.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, and document and communicate clinical findings.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Participate in emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
- Current RN licensure in New Mexico or eligibility for licensure by reciprocal agreement.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days of hire.
- PALS certification within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Arrhythmia Certification within 1 year of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 6 months of hire.
This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. The working conditions include a significant hazard of chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment.
