Role Summary: As an Urban School Teacher - K-12 at Uncommon Schools, you will play a critical role in shaping the educational journey of our students. This role requires creativity, patience, and a passion for teaching. Your daily responsibilities will include teaching reading and writing skills, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Additionally, you will be responsible for teaching Social Studies curriculum that incorporates analyses of America's diverse histories, with an emphasis on cultural and civic awareness.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Teach reading and writing skills
  2. Teach Social Studies curriculum
  3. Support students' social-emotional and academic development
  4. Partner with students' families to ensure appropriate resources are available


Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. You should also have a demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social-emotional and academic development. Academic expertise in Elementary Education, Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or other related fields of study is required. While teacher certification is not a prerequisite, you do need to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements.
