Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Rehabilitation Therapy Technician II to join our team at the Health & Human Services Comm.

The Rehabilitation Therapy Technician II will assist in providing routine habilitative and rehabilitative therapy work, helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve a higher level of wellness and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting assessments and preparing materials for therapeutic activities.

• Accompany individuals to and from activities and appointments, as required.

• Prepare materials for therapeutic activities and maintain an adequate supply of materials.

• Perform housekeeping duties in therapeutic activity areas, as instructed.

• Provide assistance to individuals for an assigned therapeutic specialty, such as supported employment job coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation and vocational/day program.

• Collect data related to treatment plans, as instructed.

• Provide feedback to the interdisciplinary team about the individual's progress and work with Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to maintain a connection.

• Assist in the development of treatment plans for the assigned discipline.

• Maintain current skills in relation to assigned responsibilities.

• Other duties as assigned, including actively participating in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activation.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED or previous employment.

• Experience working or volunteering with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities or in performing therapeutic work is preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

• Ability to utilize personal computers and relevant software.

• General knowledge of, or ability to gain knowledge of, ICF-IID regulations and State Supported Living Center policies and procedures.

• Ability to meet the same physical requirements as those for direct contact staff positions.

• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.

• Valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date, is required or preferred.

Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.

Additional Information:

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.

Males between the ages of 18 - 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
