Accounting Technician II

As a key member of the Department of State Health Services team, the Regional Financial Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of financial resources across the region. This position will be responsible for coordinating financial operations, including procurement, revenue management, and accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work accurately with numerical detail and interpret complex financial data.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate financial operations, including procurement, revenue management, and accounting functions.
• Prepare and enter requisitions for goods and services, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Monitor and report regional financial data, providing guidance and training to staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and databases, including receipt books and financial reports.
• Conduct annual audits and reconciliations to ensure compliance with DSHS policy and regional guidelines.
• Prepare and submit monthly performance reports to the Revenue Management Office.
• Serve as the regional headquarters cost pool coordinator, reviewing and approving supply requests and submitting orders for processing.
• Provide technical assistance and support to staff on financial matters, including procurement and accounting functions.
• Work closely with Regional Administration on special projects as needed.
Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in secretarial or administrative support, with a focus on financial operations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work accurately with numerical detail.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations governing procurement and accounting functions.
• Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to complex transactions.
• Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Office and accounting/leave record keeping software programs.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
Working Conditions:
• This position will work in a fast-paced office environment, with frequent interactions with staff and stakeholders.
• The ideal candidate will be able to work accurately and efficiently, with a high level of attention to detail.
• The position will require occasional travel to field offices and other locations, with the ability to safely operate a state-owned vehicle or personal vehicle.
• The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
