Job Summary

This position is responsible for supervising social workers in the Children's Medical Services program in the Southwest Region. The ideal candidate will have experience in supervising staff, multitasking, and providing social work practice services to clients and their families with medical conditions in medical and public health settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and develop assigned social workers
  • Provide medical case management and coordination of service delivery and advocacy for children and youth with special healthcare needs
  • Coordinate and manage specialty outreach clinics within the SW Region as necessary
  • Provide outreach and engage families, clients with community providers, programs, and agencies
  • Work collaboratively with medical, educational, vocational, and human service providers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (in accordance with NMAC 61-31-9)
  • Three (3) years of experience in a social work setting such as social service agencies, healthcare, medical, educational settings, mental health, home health, hospice, developmental disabilities, and other relevant experience
  • Licensed Social Worker in the State of New Mexico with a LBSW, LMSW, or LISW
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Services are provided in a clinic with a diverse population, many who do not speak the English language. Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay is required.
