REPORTS TO:
Board of Directors

SALARY:
$85,000 Position is exempt according to wage and hour laws.

BENEFITS:

All full-time employees at COSA are enrolled in a comprehensive retirement package through the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System. COSA also provides health, dental, and vision insurance.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading and managing COSA, ensuring alignment with its mission and vision, and fostering the optimal educational development of each student.


Management and Organizational Leadership:

Supervise all administrative functions of school operations, including the overall management and oversight of teaching staff, educational assistants, and administrative personnel.

Maintain communication with relevant educational authorities and ensure compliance with necessary reporting schedules and requirements.
Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures regarding admissions, waitlists, handbooks, general communication, and student records.
Ensure a secure educational environment and adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
Manage the charter review and revision process.
Adhere to state regulations and licensing standards.
Foster a culture of project-based learning that aligns with COSA's mission and core values.

Collaborate with the COSA Board, principal, staff, students, and the school community to establish the strategic direction of the organization and make progress towards its strategic objectives.

Engage with community groups, public and private agencies, parents, and the general public.
Ensure that policies and procedures are established for the effective operation of the school.
Attend Board of Directors meetings and other necessary gatherings to fulfill job responsibilities.
Work with the Board to identify and formulate policies as needed, making recommendations based on best practices while considering all stakeholders' interests.
Facilitate communication between faculty and the Board of Directors.
Provide budget and resource recommendations aligned with the school's strategic plan to achieve desired student outcomes.

Engagement & Communications:
Develop and implement effective systems for two-way communication with stakeholders, being responsive to community feedback.
Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with parents and other stakeholders.
Articulate the mission and vision of the school to the community.
Utilize technology and various media to communicate with all stakeholders.

Represent COSA in community and professional meetings, as well as to state and federal agencies, to foster a positive public image and promote retention and new enrollment.

Act as a mediator for staff, faculty, student, and parent conflicts; facilitate communication and collaboration in accordance with school and Board policies.

Conduct meetings with existing families in line with Communication Policy, Grievance Policy, and discipline and guidance policies.

Instructional Leadership:
Establish clear instructional vision and goals that align with COSA's educational philosophy.
Analyze student achievement data and collaborate with staff to make instructional adjustments to enhance student success.
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs.
Promote equity in an educational setting, actively driving best practices for all students.
Work with COSA staff to ensure student enrollment goals are met and accurately reported.

Human Resources:
Oversee all aspects of employment, evaluation, management, retention, and dismissal of personnel.
Manage protocols and processes for benefits and compensation, recruiting, hiring, retention, and dismissal of all staff.
Supervise all HR and personnel functions, including professional development and employee relations.
Coordinate orientation and training for volunteers, substitutes, interns, and employees.
Oversee the involvement of volunteers, substitutes, and interns.
Conduct performance evaluations and improvement plans for all staff in accordance with established policy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Administrative Certificate from the Oregon Teachers Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC).
Minimum of 5 years in the education field with leadership roles and/or positions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's or Doctorate degree in School Administration or Educational Leadership from an accredited institution.

5 years of classroom teaching experience and/or leading a school, with preferred experience in areas such as constructivist curriculum, project-based learning, experiential education, STEM/STEAM curriculum and instruction, and CTE curriculum and instruction.

Demonstrated experience in culturally diverse environments.
Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish and English.
Training and experience in trauma-informed educational practices.
Experience leading a nonprofit organization.
