Job Summary

This role supports the leadership of Highmark Health with a range of strategy activities essential to Government Market Growth in support of Medicaid membership and margin goals. The successful candidate will provide analytical and strategic-thinking support to identify and assess growth opportunities, monitor industry policies and trends, and develop business cases to facilitate decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or support key strategic initiatives across the Enterprise, including team leadership, problem-solving, data analysis, project management, communication, and implementation support.
  • Participate in the development of strategic plans for the Enterprise and key Business Units.
  • Support the team in identifying, clarifying, and resolving complex issues critical to the success of initiatives.
  • Help develop standard analytics and processes to use in leading various strategic initiatives.
  • Play a role in shaping the culture and skill set of the Strategy Team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • 6 years of post-bachelor degree related experience in Business or Healthcare or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 2 years of consulting experience with some exposure to innovation or healthcare-related fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in the payer, hospital system, or care delivery industry.
  • Experience influencing change in complex organizational systems.
  • Medicaid and Medicare managed care operations and technology experience.
  • Product and market development experience.
  • Experience in deal negotiation and contract development.
Skills
  • Ability to solve complex conceptual and operational problems.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in strategic thinking.
  • Strong PC application skills (MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Knowledge of national and regional healthcare industry trends and challenges.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs and policies.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and regulatory policy to identify business requirements and assess strategic implications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to details.
  • Demonstrated influencing and teamwork skills.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Focus on impacts to the customer of decisions rendered.
  • Proactive in driving change and continuous improvement.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with a servant leadership mindset.
  • Commitment to development of others and self.
